What is ClearCorrect
™?

ClearCorrect™ is a series of clear, custom, removable aligners that move your teeth slowly over time. They have an appearance similar to an invisible retainer. During treatment, patients wear the aligners all the time except when eating, drinking, or brushing their teeth.

How does the process work?

To find out if you are a candidate for ClearCorrect™, you will first need to have an initial consultation with Dr. Kissinger-Blakeley (approximately 45 minutes). She will discuss the goals you want to achieve and develop a customized timetable for the desired movement of your teeth.

Once you decide to move forward, we will take impressions of your teeth to create a mold to send to ClearCorrect™. They will then use precision software to generate your aligners for the first phase. Once we receive your aligners back from ClearCorrect™, we will contact you to set up an appointment.

At that appointment, Dr. Kissinger-Blakeley will fit the aligners to your teeth and ensure a proper fit. You will wear them all the time except when eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth.

Based on your individual timetable, you will have periodic appointments with Dr. Kissinger-Blakeley approximately every 6 weeks to ensure your teeth are moving according to schedule.

Who is the ideal candidate?

Ideal candidates have healthy teeth and gums and require minor to moderate tooth movement, as opposed to complete reshaping. Ideal candidates include those patients with over-crowded teeth, a pronounced overbite or underbite, some crossbites, or minor gaps between teeth.

Ideal candidates include adults and teens whose oral cavities are no longer growing and changing shape. Patients who smoke are discouraged as smoking stains the aligners and reduces the invisibility feature.

What if I have other dental work that needs to be done?

It is generally recommended that you have your other dental work completed prior to starting ClearCorrect™. Dr. Kissinger-Blakeley will discuss your treatment plan with you in detail at your initial consultation and help you decide what order your treatment should take place.

What are the health benefits?

In addition to an improved appearance and boosted self-confidence, straightening your teeth also provides other health benefits.

If your teeth do not mesh properly and your bite is off, it can cause your teeth to wear poorly over time. It can also contribute to strain on the muscles that support the jaw resulting in pain while you chew.

If you have protruding front teeth, it can create a facial imbalance as well as risk for dental injury. Too much overbite can lead to excess and/or unusual wear of the enamel of the lower front teeth. The opposite problem—an underbite—also creates facial imbalance and can lead to excessive wear of the back teeth.

Severely crowded teeth are more difficult to brush and floss—and teeth with spacing can have areas to trap/collect food. Over the long term, these problems can lead to periodontal disease with associated gum and bone loss and possible loss of teeth.
